On February 28th in Hollywood at the 2017 Oscars ceremony, instead of DiCaprio or Meryl Streep, the winner could be Google. Or Amazon. And next year it could be Alibaba. GOOGLE PRODUCED PEARL, A 2017 OSCAR NOMINEE Google has produced an amazing virtual reality (VR) animated film, titled Pearl. It is a 6-minute animated film that can normally be seen on YouTube, but which can be fully enjoyed with an app on a smartphone or by watching it with a 3D device, goggles, helmet, etc. The film largely takes place inside a car where father and daughter go on an on-the-road adventure, each chasing their own dreams. The film earned an Oscar nomination for best animated film. Watch the film below.
Note that at the top left there is a kind of directional control that rotates the view as you want. Use it during the movie As you can see, the story isn't extraordinary, and the quality of the art seems rather rough; the drawing has Nepal Phone Number nothing to do, for now, with the quality achieved by the latest Disney or Pixar cartoons. We are therefore at the beginning of this technology, and certainly not in front of an animation masterpiece. INCREASE ATTENTION TO VIRTUAL REALITY ENTERTAINMENT This fact pushes me a bit to think badly, and to hypothesize that in Hollywood there is a kind of tacit overall agreement to favor the victory of this film and consequently increase attention on entertainment with virtual reality devices.
The Oscar victory of a virtual reality film produced by Google would have a notable impact on the diffusion of all new visual enjoyment technologies, and above all on films, as we understand them today. Bringing investments and fresh ideas to the golden world of celluloid, which is increasingly suffering from competition from digital entertainment. DOES THE EDITING DISAPPEAR? Watching the film, I had to "make do" with turning my head from side to side to understand what was happening, and this fact didn't strike me particularly positively. Indeed, it deprived me of the pleasure of enjoying editing and photography, because I was forced to "edit" the film on the fly by myself, looking here and there, even missing important things.
